Layla

Canine Therapy Officer

Biography

Layla is our in-house therapy dog. Her job is to ease examinees during their medical consultations. Layla was born on a farm in Mildura where she grew up with her German Shepherd family, as well as huskies, horses and other animals. She always had big ambitions of moving to a metropolitan environment and helping people.

When Thomas saw this adorable puppy, it was love at first sight and has been since his closest companion. Layla is a vivacious, enthusiastic and energetic dog. A true mascotte of Lex Medicus’ office bringing happiness to our team through her unconditional affection.

Because of her natural empathy towards people, Layla went through an extensive therapy dog course to become accredited and is now available to work with patients during consultations. As soon as she wears her therapy dog coat, Layla immerses herself into the role to become placid and attentive, offering her empathy when patients feel discomfort or pain. She sits quietly, stares at them and comes closer to provide emotional support.

Our patients revealed how her presence reduced their anxiety levels and increased their feelings of trust. In her free time, Layla can be found in the park, chasing balls, going for a run and playing with other dogs.
