Medical speciality providing conservative treatment and surgery of injuries, congenital defects and chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system, ageing issues, which affect bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves. Also performing bone fracture repair, arthroscopy, joint replacement surgery (arthroplasty), joint reconstruction, fusion surgery, correction of deformities, and spine reconstruction. Orthopaedic surgeons may prescribe drugs as well as refer patients to physiotherapy after surgery.
